NZ SENIORS NEED MORE SMALL HOMES TO RENT

NZ HOMES (nzhomes.org) is a social housing campaign prompting NZ councils etc to deliver more small footprint affordable homes for seniors to rent:

• We prompt NZ councils etc to stay actively engaged earmarking and releasing suitable sites to build more small footprint affordable homes (40-50 square metres) for seniors to rent (with construction costs financed through rents rather then rates).

• We intend to share design and cost details of small footprint affordable homes suitable for seniors to rent (thanks to Taranaki design and construction professionals volunteering their expertise). Although we are primarily focused on dilivering more small footprint affordable homes for seniors to rent, the same homes will appeal to singles and couples of all ages (to either buy or rent).

• We gather together citizens concerned about the rental housing difficulties faced by a growing number of NZ seniors.

• We are focused on delivering more homes for seniors to rent in Taranaki, but our work will also attract interest from across NZ.

The below small footprint designs were the starting point for Taranaki design and construction professionals who have offered to volunteer their expertise.
